RIC’s exam results regularly exceed those of more well established, highly selective private schools. We believe that our small teaching groups, regular testing and structured tutorial support are responsible for this. In 2010 65% of A level entries were graded at A*, A or B.
The new A* grade was achieved in subjects as diverse as Textiles, Film Studies, Chemistry and Physics. A level entries at Rochester Independent College continue to be dominated by core academic subjects such as Maths and English and this year entries in these two subjects notched up 18 A*s between them.
In English Literature an astonishing 8 out of 25 students were awarded the new top grade. The national average of Grade A* attainment in English is 7.5%, at RIC it’s 35%! The department scooped two Good Schools Guide award for these record breaking results- the best point score of any independent school in the UK!
In terms of A level results we are often ranked as the top independent school in Medway and the top non selective school in Kent. We compare well against the selective local grammar schools and are always ranked highly against other independent sixth form colleges.
