At the heart of a designated conservation area, Rochester Independent College is housed in restored properties enhanced by modern design features. The historically distinctive site with listed buildings linked by award winning wildlife gardens creates a unique sense of place to explore and in which to live, study and work. The unique urban campus is now connected with all circulation through the gardens. Features of the site include a student allotment and a comfortable garden shed for teaching award winning mathematics students that has attracted national newspaper attention.

finland house- sixth form and boarding
60 boarders are accommodated on campus in single or twin rooms. All rooms have a direct dial telephone and high speed internet connection. Some have en suite facilities. As well as common rooms and study areas, boarding students have access to the College’s sports pitch, student kitchens, fitness centre, on site cinema, art studios and gardens.

underhill hall- music and drama
New for 2012 is Underhill Hall, a home for RIC Drama, exams, art shows and performances with seating capacity for 100 people. The copper canopied roof transforms into an open-air auditorium with productions from visiting theatre companies and students. Low voltage electrical installation and modern construction techniques combine to give the underground building a minimal carbon footprint.
