In order to really understand how we work and to get a better idea of our A-level subject choices, why not come along to RIC for a 6th form taster day?
We arrange informal taster days throughout the year but the next big event is 28 June 2017.
Come in for a day, choose 5 subjects to taste, meet our teachers, get to know other students coming to the College and also explore the campus.
The move to A-level studies is a chance to specialise after the broad approach of GCSEs. Each subject ‘taster’ is an hour long and will give a broad overview of the subject. There will undoubtedly be A-levels you have already decided upon but this taster day is also an opportunity to talk to tutors in areas such as Psychology, Sociology, Classical Civilisation, World Development, Government and Politics, Economics etc. – academic disciplines you may have no previous experience or knowledge in.
The 6th form taster day will be from 10-4 and all those attending are welcome to join us for a drink and a BBQ at our annual Summer Festival that evening, an event which celebrates the end of our academic year whilst also showcasing student work in the creative subjects. We will have our art exhibition in place, plus screenings of films, drama pieces, music and other aspects of College life. Parents and guardians are also very welcome to join us in the evening for an informal look at RIC’s community feel and to meet the subject tutors at the College.
